1. Your logo is dated and it needs a makeover.

I hear it so often, “I’m just not loving my branding anymore”.

Whilst the identity you have now may have worked for you a few years ago, it might just not cut the mustard anymore, and it’s totally OK to want to change things up a little. Your business branding needs to evolve and grow with the times, and creating a new look for your business will set the tone for everything else such as your colour palette, fonts, social media graphics, website, photography and everything else in between. Consumers are drawn to brands that are clean, fresh and modern and will opt for them over something thats tired and outdated.

2. Your current branding is not consistent.

Often when people create graphics for their own business, there can be some temptation to use a lot of different fancy fonts and colours, when in actual fact, less is more. Speaking of fonts and colours, are you using the same ones consistently throughout your marketing, or does nothing seem to match anymore? A rebrand will not only give you a new logo, but also new logo variations, a new colour palette and typography that you can use throughout your print and digital platforms.  

3. You’re now targeting a new audience.

As your business grows, you may find that you’re now selling to a completely new group of people. For instance, my client Chelsea from Tiptoe and Co used to only specialise in children’s footwear, however she recently added a women’s section to her website that prompted her to under go a rebrand as now her target market has changed slightly. 

4. You’ve just launched a new product or service.

A rebrand could be a great way to creates some buzz around launching a new product or service. You could create some sneak peek social media graphics using your new brand identity to hype up your audience, this will also give you and your audience something to new talk about.

5. You’re struggling to stand out from the sea of competitors.

Are you struggling to be seen in a sea of new competitors? Well one of the main things you can do to generate new customers and build further customer loyalty, is by having better consistency in your branding. A cohesive brand will help gain trust with your audience and enable you to stand out from the crowd. You know your business is the bees knees, so why not show it off to the world!

6. Your logo was made years ago by an amateur friend.

Ask yourself, how much attention was given to your current branding when you first set out on your business venture? I see so many small businesses opt for a “quick fix” logo design made by a well meaning friend, and there are just so many potential problems with this approach. Firstly, a brand isn’t just a logo and it certainly isn’t something you can just quickly create without any thought or intention behind it, see my blog post on “Just What Goes into a Logo Design”. A professional designer will carry out thorough research into your target market and audience to create a brand that is appropriate and appealing to your target market. On completion they will then supply you with the correct file formats, logo variations, fonts, colour codes, all presented in a document often called a “brand style guide”. All of these elements are essential to any successful branding project.
